The PGA TOUR is the only professional sport that gives 100 percent of its net proceeds back into the local community via charitable organizations. Thanks in part to the support of the New York/New Jersey community and our dedicated volunteers, in 2015 the tournament generated more than $1.3 million for local charities. Since its inception in 1967 (when it was known as the Westchester Classic), the tournament has raised more than $45 million for charity.
Unlike any other professional sport, the PGA TOUR relies on more than 100,000 volunteers each year to run its events. At THE NORTHERN TRUST, our volunteers play an invaluable role. They take on the tasks, large and small, necessary to keep the tournament running smoothly. Volunteers are involved in every aspect of the tournament, from admissions and communications to marshals and scoring. Time commitments vary depending on the committee.
